Directory or file cannot be created memory stick

It is a 1G memory stick with MB used. Thinking the memory stick might be faulty I transferred all the files to another one gig memory stick. However I had the same problem. I cannot save the Word file onto a memory stick directly, it will save into one of the two folders already on the memory stick.

I can however create a new folder in side one of the two folders all ready on the memory stick As I say this fault has occurred on to memory stick although it is possible I suppose that I might have transferred what ever is causing it on to the second memory stick when I copied over the data.

Has anybody any suggestions. Message 1 of 4. Reply 0 Thanks. What could be the problem? Apparently you are alread working on the files on C:, then after you finish editing, you copy from C: to D: and H:, correct? It is easiest if you use 2 Windows Explorer windows but you can do it with one.

One explorer is open to the source location C: or D: and the other is opened to the desired folder on the destination drive D: or H:. In the source location, you click on the file you want to move and hold the mouse button down while you "drag" the mouse pointer to the destination folder and release the mouse button.

Windows will move the file from source to destination. If you click and hold the right mouse button instead of the left button , then drag and drop, you will be offered the option to copy rather than move the file.

Drag and drop may be more challenging than you want to deal with. There is another option.
